Chennai Runners a not-for-profit running group, founded in 2006, is the largest running group in Chennai, run entirely by volunteers and runners. Chennai Runners have conducted several Half marathons, 10K and 5K events in the past few years and is now proud to be associated with Wipro to bring a world class marathon event to Chennai.

Wipro has a history of supporting running events being the title sponsor for 'The Wipro San Francisco Marathon’, major partner for the 'Sydney Running Festival’ and conducting its own unique 'Spirit of Wipro Run’.
The Chennai Marathon showcases the spirit and dedication of the many individuals and teams who run the race, and it also demonstrates Chennai Runners and Wipro's commitment to giving back to the communities and the city where we work.
The Chennai Marathon promises to provide runners with significant technology support offering RFID based timing technology to participants, in May 2012, Wipro launched its first corporate iPhone app, that includes a "Sport" feature. The runners can train for the marathon by using its in-built digital pedometer.
This brings together a technology focused community event and a global leader in IT, consulting and outsourcing. This partnership is a glimpse into the future of marathon running.
