How do I register for the event?

Register online at www.thewiprochennaimarathon.com using either your Credit/Debit card or Net Banking account. If your employer has sponsored your registration, you may have received a ‘Register & Run’ card which you can redeem on the website for your race registration fee.

What is a The Wipro Chennai Marathon ‘Register and Run’ card?

A ‘Register & Run’ card is a pre-paid card supplied to Corporate houses to enable their employees to register on the website for a race of their choice. If your employer has sponsored your registration you may have received a ‘Register & Run’ card which you can redeem on the website and register for free.

What are the rates for registration?

Registration fee for all race categories (full marathon, half marathon and 10k) is Rs 975/-. Several possibilities for charity registrations exist - they are explained – here

I missed the last date of registration, can I register now?

No, we will absolutely not entertain any last minute requests for registration.

What do I get for the amount I pay during registration?

A running number bib (without which you will not be allowed on the course) with an electronic timing chip; a race T-shirt, a finisher’s medal and a hearty breakfast. On race day you can also expect baggage handling, on-course hydration, medical support, and of course a great running experience with tons of music and fun!

How old must I be to run in TWCM?

15 years old (Born on or before Dec 11, 2001) for the 10km race; and 18 years old (Born on or before Dec 11, 1998) for the Half Marathon [21.2Km] and Full Marathon [42.195Km]

What age proof do I need to show for registration?

Age proof could be your Passport, Driver’s License, PAN card or a bonafide from school which will need to be shown on bib collection day (not during registration).

Why is there an age criterion for this running event?

The Wipro Chennai Marathon abides by the guidelines and regulations of the Tamil Nadu Athletic Association (TNAA). Distance running is a strenuous activity and is not recommended for young children. We insist that all runners meet the age criteria prescribed by the TNAA to ensure their safety and medical well-being.

The online portal failed during my registration. What do I do?

Do not panic. We are here to help. Please use the 'Contact Us' option in this web-site, write in with all the details and we will respond within 24 hours.

Can I cancel my registration after I have paid?

Unfortunately, we will not be able to entertain cancellation of registration. You could, however, change your race category up until date(to be announced later).

Will I get a refund if I cancel a registration made using the ‘Register & Run’ card?

No, unfortunately, we will not be able to refund any amount back to the ‘Register & Run’ card if such a registration is cancelled.

Can I change my race category after registration?

We will allow you to change your race category (Full marathon 42.195Km/ Half marathon 21.1Km/ 10K) upto date (to be announced later) with no extra charges. However, after this date, all registrant data will be frozen and no race category changes will be allowed.

Can I change my medical or emergency contact information after date (to be announced later)?

Yes, we recognize that you may want to change this information closer to the race date and we will accept all changes related to personal, medical or emergency contact information up to Saturday, December 3rd, 2016.

Can I register multiple runners using the same Email ID?

No, we follow a user account based registration system for the security of your data and hence each registration will need to be mapped to a unique Email ID. If you want to register for multiple family members or friends, please use a separate Email ID for each such registration.

I would like to register a large number of people (25 or above) for the event either from a corporate organization or from a single association (colleges, residential associations, charity organization etc). What do I do?

Who organizes The The Wipro Chennai Marathon(TWCM)?

TWCM is organized by the Chennai Runners, a not-for-profit club with generous and valuable assistance and support from our all event partners and sponsors.

What are the race categories offered at TWCM?

Full marathon (42.195 Km); half marathon (21.1 Km) and 10K

What are the start and end points of the various races in TWCM?

We are in the process of finalizing our race routes and will publish them shortly.

What is the prize money on offer at the event?

We will offer prizes to top finishers across age categories in 2 Race categories-Full Marathon and Half Marathon. Details will be published shortly.

When will I get my running bib / T-shirt?

All running bibs and T-shirts will be distributed on Expo Day - December 9th and 10th, 2016. Please visit the ‘Expo Day’ (hyperlinked to the website page) page which will have more details closer to race day.

Can I run the race without a running bib?

No bib, no run. You will not be allowed on the course without a legitimate TWCM 2016 running bib. This allows us to ensure that only registered runners are running the event and helps us in giving them a safe and enjoyable running experience.

When and where can outstation runner collect the BIB?

There is no separate BIB distribution for outstation runners. The BIBs need to be collected on 9th or 10th December 2016 at the expo.

What are Charity registrations?

TWCM 2016 is committed to support several important social causes through the proceeds raised. Several interesting concepts on how a runner can contribute to these efforts have been developed. For more information click here.

What are the ways in which I can support charities during TWCM 2016?

Who is the charity partner for TWCM 2016?

I have registered for my race with a ‘Register & Run’ Corporate registration card from my employer. Can I still contribute to Charity?

Yes, you can pay your race registration fee using the ‘Register & Run’ card and the charity amount using your personal Credit/Debit card or Net Banking account.

Will I receive Section 80-G tax certificates for my Charity contributions?

Yes, you will be sent a Section 80-G tax certificate for any of the three ways in which you can make Charity contributions.

What is the course elevation?

Barring an occasional fly-over, the route will be relatively flat.

What is the expected weather?

In december, Chennai is somewhat cool (depending on how you look at it), with average temperatures ~25C. Humidity is generally high.

Will there be hydration points along the race route?

Yes! Several spots with water, electrolyte, and other necessities will be provided along the race route, their exact location will be announced closer to race date.
